Mohammed Al-Otaiba

Mohammed Al-Otaiba has been working at the United Nations Headquarters in New York for the past three years, focusing his work within the diplomatic field. His skills as an independent filmmaker began developing after he took a course at the New York Film Academy, where he directed student-shorts.

Afghan Days gives audiences a rare opportunity to observe the incredible talent of this filmmaker, and gain an in-depth insight into Afghanistan's incessant struggle to re-build itself, with its ongoing insurrection against the opiate reality under which it has been submerged. 'Afghan Days' traverses the Afghan landscape, from Kabul City to the North Eastern province of Badakhshan, then all the way back to the Afghan-Pakistani border at Peshawar; offering glimpses into a little-seen interior. This documentary showcases different voices, from a UN representative to a farmer, on the challenges faced by those living under Afghanistan's Opium economy.
